Doing my duty

I truly am a concerned citizen.  As our nation has matured for 200+ years, corruption has spread in ways the Founders could never have imagined.  They thought they were building a system in which only people "with skin in the game" would vote.  In other words, only people who contributed would then turn around and "vote" (decide) what should be done with the common treasury.  Their vision did not quite reach to allowing the gimmee crowd to literally overwhelm producers with their constant, "more...more...more" demands.  Then as now, great thinkers failed and fail to account for human nature.

Mitt Romney spoke about the 47% dependency mob and was immediately attacked by those who make their living by servicing such people.  It is too early in the day to know for sure if the demanders will keep him away from the Oval Office.  In a way you have to admire their loyalty to a sitting president who knows how to work them so skillfully.  Even the most logical arguments about how signing on to government dependency guarantees a life of poverty fails to make a dent in the thinking of those slurping at the trough.

This will be a long day with a long night to follow.  If Obama wins, the work of the Tea Party must start all over.  If Romney wins, the work of the Tea Party must start all over.  We truly have been taxed enough already.

Enough of this.  My call to Republican headquarters to volunteer as a driver was met with, "Thanks, but we don't need any more at this time."  I will offer again at lunch time.  If not needed then, I will turn my thoughts to 2014.  There is work to be done whichever way this turns out.
